Social Support Group

Our Allied Health Assistant supports therapy, rehabilitation, and wellbeing programs, helping people stay active, independent, and connected.

Home Care Package clients are welcome to join social support groups, exercise programs, and a range of activities offered through our monthly calendar, providing opportunities to build skills, stay well, and connect with others in the community.

What Activities We Offer 

• Weekly planned activity group program 

• Transport assistance, including pick-up and drop-off services within the local area 

• Weekly exercise classes held at the Omeo District Health Community Gym 

• Outreach exercise classes in Swifts Creek and Benambra 

These programs are designed to be inclusive, enjoyable, and suitable for a range of abilities and interests.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy (OT) supports people to stay safe, independent, and active in everyday life. This may include help with daily activities, mobility, home safety, equipment, rehabilitation, and maintaining quality of life.

Service Available 

Omeo District Health has an onsite Occupational Therapist available each week, providing services both at Omeo District Health and in the community through home visits. 

Occupational Therapy can assist with: 

• Maintaining independence at home 

• Falls prevention and home safety assessments 

• Equipment and assistive technology recommendations 

• Functional assessments 

• Rehabilitation and recovery following illness or injury 

• Support for older adults to remain living safely at home

Podiatry

A Podiatrist assesses, diagnoses, and treats conditions affecting the feet and lower limbs, helping people maintain mobility, comfort, and independence. 

Visiting Service 

Ankush Madan, from Best Foot Forward podiatry, provides a visiting podiatry service at Omeo District Health approximately every 6 to 8 weeks. 

Podiatry can assist with: 

• Foot and lower limb pain 

• Nail and skin care 

• Diabetes-related foot assessments 

• Footwear advice 

• Mobility and balance concerns

Speech Pathology / Speech Therapy

Speech therapy services are provided by Seven Senses Therapy Services. 

Appointments are available following a referral and may support both children and adults experiencing communication, speech, language or swallowing difficulties. 

The service can assist with: 

• Speech and language assessments 

• Communication support 

• Language and literacy development 

• Speech sound difficulties 

• Swallowing and feeding difficulties 

• Individualised therapy and management plans

Diabetes Education  

A Diabetes Educator provides education, support, and practical advice to help people understand and manage their diabetes. This may include support with blood glucose monitoring, medications, healthy eating, physical activity, and reducing the risk of diabetes-related complications. 

Visiting Service 

A Diabetes Educator from Bairnsdale Regional Health Service (BRHS) visits Omeo District Health monthly to provide appointments and support for people living with diabetes.
