Support When You Need It Most
Respite care provides short-term support for older people when extra help is needed. Whether recovering from an illness, giving a family carer time to rest, or exploring future care options, respite care offers a safe, welcoming environment with personalised support.
A respite stay can benefit both the older person and their carer. It provides an opportunity to enjoy social connection, activities, and a change of routine, while carers take a well-deserved break with confidence that their loved one is receiving quality care.
For many families, respite care is also a valuable way to experience life at Lewington House before making decisions about longer-term care. Residents can become familiar with our home, staff, routines, and community, helping to build comfort, trust, and confidence.
Our respite care services offer:
Short-term accommodation in a private room
24-hour nursing and personal care
Nutritious meals and refreshments
Social, lifestyle, and wellbeing activities
Access to health services and allied health support
Opportunities to build friendships and community connections
Whether for a few days or a longer stay, respite care can provide peace of mind for carers and a positive, supportive experience for older people.
